‘I Don’t Tolerate Disrespect’: Teyana Taylor Confronts Security After Alleged Physical Incident at Oscars
HOLLYWOOD, CA — It was supposed to be a night of pure celebration for Teyana Taylor, whose performance in Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another helped the film sweep six Academy Awards on Sunday night. However, a viral video capturing a heated backstage confrontation has cast a shadow over the festivities.
Footage circulating on social media shows a visibly furious Taylor, 35, scolding a man—later identified as a member of the Oscars security detail—after he reportedly "shoved" her while she was attempting to return to the stage for a cast photo.
The "Hands on a Female" Confrontation
The incident occurred shortly after the 98th Academy Awards broadcast ended on 15th March. In the clip, Taylor can be seen pointing at the individual and raising her voice to draw attention to his behavior in a crowded hallway of the Dolby Theatre.
“You’re a man putting your hands on a female,” Taylor is heard saying in the video, her voice rising over the post-show chatter. “You’re very rude. You’re very rude. You’re very rude.”
Turning to concerned onlookers, Taylor explained the escalation, stating, “He literally shoved me. He was damn near shoving her,” while gesturing toward Pam Abdy, the co-chair and CEO of Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group, who was also caught in the fray.
The Battle for the Stage
According to reports from TMZ, the friction began when Taylor and Abdy attempted to move back toward the stage to join the One Battle After Another team for their Best Picture winner’s circle photograph.
Witnesses suggest the security guard utilized "aggressive" crowd-control tactics, reportedly using his body to block Taylor’s path and physically pushing her back. The actress reportedly took particular issue with the guard’s refusal to de-escalate, with sources claiming the guard allegedly demanded Taylor apologize to him during the exchange.

“Security Was Just Doing a Lot”
Despite the intensity of the hallway row, Taylor appeared composed later that evening at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party, having changed into a second Chanel look. Speaking briefly with reporters about the viral moment, the multi-hyphenate star made it clear that while she had moved on, she stood by her reaction.
“Everybody’s having a good time and you know, security was just doing a lot,” Taylor said. “There’s always that one, but I’m perfectly fine. I just don’t tolerate disrespect, especially when it’s unwarranted and unprovoked.”
A Bittersweet Victory
The confrontation served as a jarring footnote to a night that saw Taylor’s film, One Battle After Another, emerge as the definitive champion of the year. While Taylor narrowly missed out on the Best Supporting Actress trophy to Amy Madigan, her performance as Perfidia Beverly Hills has been hailed as a career-defining turn, earning her a Golden Globe earlier this season.
Academy officials have not yet released an official statement regarding the conduct of the security staff involved.
