King and Queen reveal this year's Christmas card
For their official Christmas card, King Charles and Queen Camilla have selected a snapshot of themselves taken in Rome. The smiling couple are shown on a garden path in this photo, taken in April during their state visit to Italy. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and New Year
is the greeting inside. The King is wearing a dark blue suit and grey tie, while the Queen is wearing white and beige coat dress. This is their fourth Christmas card since Charles became King.
The photograph, taken by photographer Chris Jackson, was taken in Rome's grounds by Villa Wolkonsky, the British ambassador's residence. It was held to celebrate the King and Queen's 20th wedding anniversary. The Queen is also wearing a lily of the valley brooch, a mark of enduring love.
This year's photograph, as well as last year''s, is a more casual portrait than the one selected for Christmas 2023. Millie Pilkington took the King's portrait last year as he returned to public service following his cancer diagnosis and treatment. On what seemed to be a sunny day, the two couples were photographed smiling in the garden of Buckingham Palace. Following the coronation, the King and Queen selected a portrait of themselves in Buckingham Palace's Throne Room in 2023. Senior members of the Royal Family are regularly published Christmas photos used to decorate official festive cards. The royal couple will take several days to sign all the cards, which will be sent to people around the world, including family, acquaintances, world leaders, and organisations.
